MEIK takes on PROJECT RUNWAY Season 3

So we joked, we laughed and we did it.
On saturday MEIK! contributors and friends journeyed to Hoboken.
In the festive attire as the cast of Project Runway Season 3.
It was a blast and people actually recognized who we were.
Starring
MEIK! as Jeffrey
Frag as Allison
Suarez as Uli
AmyNZ as Laura
Tim Gunn as Tim Gunn(Not Pictured)

Lost and Stolen Transmission

We finally found it.
Apparently we were absent from Ultragrrrl's ST party for a couple months.
Apparently our scheduling department made a big mistake.
Don't worry we have a new scheduling department now.
Those Washington Social Club(Kids) put on a really good show.
They were fun and pretty high energy.

Olivia Mancini-WSC at the Annex

Evan Featherstone-WSC at the Annex

Brother Lawrence kicked off the DJing for the night
Those Lost Prophets rocking the hoodies mixed it all up.
From Gwen to N.W.A.
Good choice on the "Staight Outta Compton" guys
As usual it was a whole bunch of people that make good music, blogs, and news.
Just hanging out for a nice little time

TEAM MEIK! vs the DL

What happens when you cut AOL in half.
Apparently you get a youtubish site that is run by comedians and improv(ers)
Some would say you gave the keys to the asylum
Such as Sara Schaefer and possibly Eugene Mirman.
I know the first two questions are huh DL what and Sara Schaefer who?
Sara is an improv lady, with a web and video backround of some sorts.
I'd be more descriptive if I knew more so I am working on it.
I could lie and say she is a former yale grad with 4 years of study at juliard.
But i'd be lying if i said that.
Think amy poehler(SNL) and Kennedy from(MTV back in the day)

What the DL?
Well they threw a little launch party last week.
Showing some viral videos, improv and a performance by the Walkmen.
It was interesting as you would think.
I have no idea of the plans long term for the site, but its a fun idea.
It's a mixture of interviews, funny bits, and blogger life.
We'll keep an eye out for what they do in the future
We had a good time though at the launch.

Sara givin us the D(own) L(ow) on the DL

MEIK! it's all about the bridal shows

Happy OCTNOV, It was magical last night.
First off TEAM PARTY CRASH ain't got nothing on TEAM MEIK!
OK maybe friends, PR agencies, and invities but the battle is now on.
Frag rangled up some rsvp's to the VERA WANG bridal show
The local was at Vera's uptown shop around 77th and madison.
Plenty of dresses, snacks, and drinks.
Team MEIK! went with the white wine, someone was hording the champange.
We're not naming names cause we don't know them.
Lot's of dresses with patterns I know nothing about.
There was mesh in some that looked like a shirt Brian Bosworth would have worn in the 80's early 90's before his nfl/movie career dissolved.
The dresses overall were really nice and I imagine probably expensive.
All sorts of flair, some sashes, some strapless, interesting features I was clueless about.
My ownly critical insight was that there few actually white dresses.
The main color was this pale off white kind of fabric.
For some strange reason outloud I said" these dresses are cool but they kinda look like they are 10-15 years old and have aged a little". Probably not a good idea.
With that said I am not a fashion designer and if I ever tried to make a wedding dress you would say wow that's an interesting field tarp. And I would say thank you it is a lovely field tarp, indeed.

Great time
We devoured the mini cheesburgers.
We quenched our thirst.
Cheers to a night of nights.

Bridal shows are the new art gallery opening.

Get to the root of the BRUT!

Some spend a night at Bar 9
Others just go to see art brut at Irving Plaza
At MEIK! we took the test and did both.
We found out Sierra Nevada makes an October Fest and we still love ART Brut!
Also from the balcony we found out Eddie Argos doesn't wear shoes on stage.
Plus the bitter feud/love of We are Scientists continued.
The brut covered "The Great Escape" as their encore.
Though Mr. Argos said they sold the song to the scientistsssss.
Really eddie, HMMMMM?

Just like the trashy TV show of old HARD COPY we got it all caught on tape.
Well in our case it's caught on a flash memory card.
But it's all the same.
In this short little post song rant Eddie asks the crowd seriously this time to form a band, not art or a zine but they must actually form a band.
OH EDDIE!

Eddie Argos asks you to Form a Band-ART Brut

Let's Rewind to Tuesday and then Fast Forward to 10 minutes from now

Last Tuesday Demander played the Mercury Lounge
What you didn't know is that they found col mustard with the revolver in the library.
FACT! Solid Hard evidence. Busted buddy!
But after that they did indeed put on a great show
Karen as always added a little flair. This time highlighted with some pink and bright colors.
Sivan beat the crap outta the drums and hair jumped like a pantene shampoo commercial.
Drummers and their high energy.
Jared rocked in his black attire and chucks.
I don't know if his fingers bled as per usual.

We like the flair at the MEIK!

We also have a funny picture of Karen with Medusa Eyes, we're holding that one for ransome.
MEIK! it's all about music and business but nothing to do with the music business!

DE-CAP or Lovelife the Movie

For those of you that made it out to the MERC on Tuesday thanks for comming.
We're really sorry about Roger!
He's going through a comming of age point in his life.
He just watched "Lost in Translation" and realized they ripped off his life story.
Finally got my hands on the Demander EP and "The Unkindness of Ravens".
As usual the choice is so.
The show was really good and we even got the chance to hear & see Jared sing some lead vocals.

Now let's talk about "Lovelife" aka the Running Song.
Eeeek I'm in a rush at the moment.
But we had some funny ideas for how Demander could runn during the song.
Or having it being used on a movie soundtrack.

This is my idea put the song lovelife on repeat or play and then read below.
I didn't give cusak or duff charachter names.
Just think the opener starts with one of those crazy movie voice over guys.
What happens when you fall in love in the Lower East Side
Paramount Pictures Presents John Cusak and Hillary Duff in a story about forgetting who you were and remember who you wanted to be.
Exterior
Duff: Tonight is the first night I stop calling Robert for the rest of my life
Office
Cusak:I'm sick of this tie, what am I doing!

Club Scene
Duff: Hey aren't you a little old for the Annex
Cusak: Are you even old enough to be in here.

Phone Calls
Duff(to friend):I think I'm falling in love with a writer for Cigar Aficionado. Is that wrong.

Fried: Are you still wearing that DARE shirt?
Duff: maybe!

And introducing "Strapp" as himself(I gave myself quotes like Sinabad or Gallagher)

Cusak: Strapp what should I do? I got a chance to write for GQ for a year on the road

Strapp:Everything, If you fall flat on your face and still get up that means you didn't try hard enough. Do you want to live your life writing about other people's love, while you lost yours

Split Screen(Cusak and Duff running in the rain)
Just because they're writers doesn't mean they have anything in common.

"What did you write about me?"

Huxtability!

Put away the jello pudding pops and Mortimer Ikibob Markers.
Those were so good.

Tomorrow Demander unofficially releases "The Unkindess of Ravens" at a secret undisclosed location(The Mercury Lounge). I know this will be awesome and if isn't I'll be the guy in the green hoodie(haha suckers, i'll be wearing a blue hoodie, might not disclose what jacket till tomorrow). Get your dot-dot-dot on and sing along with me upfront during Hollis and Greenwich Meantime. We're trying to get the whole MEIK! staff to make it down, it's gonna be big. In the mean time check out this little animated video for "Hollis". So enjoyable. Before you go to bed tonight put a twenty dollar bill in your pocket for what you are going wear tomorrow.
Trust me!!!! If you lose it's your fault. End of our Business day!

Payolla vs bro-olla

Payolla is when people give money to do stuff for them(derrrrrrrr)
Well what if these people are already friends.
I was having a convo with one of the Metermaids management about this.
I think we scared and/or confused one of our co-workers.

I like metermaids the group better than the real thing.
Well real meter maids mean you're in trouble.
They give you tickets and could possibly tow your car.
In contrast for the group you buy tickets to see them.
If they put something on your car it's probably just a flyer or ep.
I'm interested to see what label they might sign to.
For some bands the label they pick can shape their careers dramatically
hopefully it will affect their fan base in a popular way so that it grows.
The group could assault you with their style and flavor.

So if you saw two guys at Zanibar last week arguing about blogs, payolla, and other stuff that may have been us. It was awesome and you definitely missed it.

Metermaids upcoming dates
