I really can't explain this other than: The Meik! Outdoors Pirate
Ummm I'm working on Halloween for baseball.
I've been wearing some outdoor gear.
And flickr had some random masks to tag on stuff.
Go back to what you were doing. Sorry for wasting your time.

Skulled by Meik!
It's been on of those days...
and by days I mean I'm at the studio working on World Series and Hungry...Game On!
The Meiksavers! or Meik! Goes to Breslin Bar
Yeah I got nothing on this one.
Just wanted to check in.
The World Series is starting tonight and I'm getting ready for adventures.
Finally had a break last night and galivanted at the ACE Hotel.
A fun night of Gin & Tonics along with some great food at the Breslin.
Some random chats and encounters.
I got flanked by a slew of pr girls deciding where to sit and what to do.
It was like seeing the L train stop short at the station.
Not to sure that works properly as a recap but blame the gin.
Oh yes the Hendricks Gin & Tonic...a perfect drink.
After one Frag finally made to the ACE Hotel we slid over to the Breslin Bar and Restaurant.
I'm pretty sure I saw Chris Cosentino from the Food Network and many amazing food adventures...I want to visit Boccalone.
The place was packed but we got a seat quickly.
The menu was looking good and April Bloomfield was in the kitchen.
It was probably a top 10 meal for me definitely.
I finally got to try to some sweet breads and some chicken liver...
That stuff was insane, and when your waiter says blue fish picked by april is on the menu as a special you go for it.
Desert was just crazy.
I'm sure there were more drinks.
Some sort of garden cocktail, I think it had bitters, maybe cellery salt and some bitters..Too lazy to check the online menu right.
Also I topped it off with a Bitches Brew.
Which is basically a strong bloody mary with a tecate...
I was planning to go out after earlier in the day.
Well the food and bevy kicked my butt...
A fun time to walk out and head home.
So I still have some random shots to post from CMJ.
I'm working on some prints for some ideas.
And I need to talk to folks about t-shirts and coozies...
Till then I'll be super busy till next week.
But be warned as it shall be good when we return.
Friday night let's hang at Epstein's
Good Day!

Oh look what came in the mail from Lowcard
My package from Lowcard has arrived all the way from the SF BAY.
A really fun company that does a magazine, videos, clothes, hats & etc.
I think I first heard about them through thrasher and other guys.
I never saw anybody out here with there gear.
But then I saw it pop up at KCDC and other shops.
Dan Drehobl and Chet rock their gear now and again.
I find this funny too that this package comes today as the Giants could possibly knock out the phillies in the NLCS.
I'm hoping for the HUF world series SF vs NY
But aside from that I've connected with this brand quite well.
It's snarky and edgy stuff that doesn't apologise.
It is what it is and I'm down with it for sure.
I think this was my 2nd or 3rd order from Lowcard.
They like to throw in something random as an extra
I kinda wish the tape was in it, Starting off a mix with my 2 fave Lagwagon songs...That's how you get customer loyalty
It's True
Yeah my fashion this year is gonna be outtta hand
More camo and more sf-ish
Stay Lame while Staying Warm
And that's that...
Follow all their adventures on lowcardmag.com & twitter.com/lowcard
You can also get their product at KCDC in BK and Underground Skateshop in Nutley, NJ.
Cheers and now let's get some coffee.

Meik! Finally Sleeps: How I spent the last week
Hello there friends and those looking for cleaning supplies.
First off Meik! is not a direct retailer of cleaning supplies.
You should probably check out ZEP or Home Depot.
We have returned from the land of Shanghai. Congrats Andy Murray.
This past week was insate live on the east work on Australia times.
I think the longest breaks between games were 3.5 hours.
Which meant I was prepping and maybe catching 30 minutes to sit.
Nights were spent with a shower and watching Ken Burns Doc on JAZZ for PBS.
That's a really great piece on music and life.
The big run was friday to sunday.
A couple events got bounched around and had me stay up over 48-72 hours.
Things are going good at this gig which might go staff.
Although the freelancing is working out pretty fine.
I'm still kinda really tired from that I'm not sure when I slept last before.
So when you're up for so much what exactly do you do.
Where habits start forming and skills start to diminish.
Drank tons of water, coffee and
You may at some point start drawing logos on cups
Possibly take random photos of yourself with no meaning.
Challenge the reflection of your image in a mirror to a duel.
Visit musiciansfriend.com 1000 times debating the merrits of the epiphone les paul custom vs other guitars.
You will calculate how to outbid your competitor in a battle for a navajo sweater on gypsywarriorvintage.com
(You will then later fall asleep and be awoke by the auction has completed email from ebay)
You will and must go to the Malibu Diner and devour a plate of bacon and eggs...That's just my favoirte thing in the world to eat.
You may run in to hoboken night owl's with oufits similar to the characters of the jersey shore or chelsea clubs.
You will at 4pm listen to the enconomist and then for no reason get out of your chair and start doing jumping jacks.
You will play 5000 games of solitare.
You will go to rite and buy a ton of stuff you don't need but will enjoy it.
You will chug gatorage with handfulls of rainbow nerds.
You will miss out on a couple really cool events at KCDC and Vans
But you will have nyskateboarding.com posting great coverage.
So to some this up it's been a pretty crazy week.
This week will be busy too but with sleep and freetime also.
I think this extra work my pay off in the form of a telephoto lens.
Time to do some invoicing and we shall see.
Turn up the Charlie Parker, Meik! is back...

Grab your cap..
Time to grab my yankee cap and head to the studio.
Long long weekend and I think I'm done at 1pm on Sunday for sure.
A bit of crazyness and a heavy schedule.
It should be good though, and the pay won't hurt.
So once again outta the loop till next thursday.
Shazaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaam!

Days of the Meik!
Hello there kids and adults...Greetings from Shanghai.
Once again I'm technically not there but working on a Tennis Tourney there.
I'm pretty much working zombie hours and isolated.
A byproduct of the hours and the weather right now.
But alas I see some free time ahead. next week.
Besides that I ordered a bunch of skateboards and a new guitar stack.
I'll probably start writing a whole bunch more and getting injured.
CMJ is ahead as well and I'll break out the camera for some adventures.
There's other Meik! stuff still in the works.
Some more pins, shirts and prints as well.
I wanna do something with skate photos I've shot as well.
Also I just wanna eat, cold weather or as I call it weight gain months.
Lastly I'm working on setting up the home photo studio.
I just got my two mono lights working and another fluorescent travel kit
Good things to come I'm sure...Next project is the front porch pub.
Till then I'll probably hit up the city next week thursday or friday.
Have some fun adventures.
Things are good but they are crazy busy....

Umbrella & Tonic
It's sketchy out there tonight.
Don't forget your umbrella.
Sadly this beverage is not live.
Stuck in the studio till 2am.
Quite a long day.

Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC: Final Edits & Random Thoughts
So here's one of my favorite photos from Friday night.
Shadowy and a little bit artsy.
Along with a gallery below of selects slightly fixed up.
It was a pretty fun time as usual. Got some good photos.
Had my Garth from Wayne's World moment when I said hi to Amy.
I'm pretty sure I said hi in very a geeky sorta awkward way.
I figure it's because Amy's like the cool senior class girl with the leather jacket and I'm the geeky kid with the bowl cut in a def leppard tee.
Haha that was completely random, but awesome.
Amy was nice as usual and I'm always psyched on the events.
I'm also pretty sure I stuttered half way through explaining to miss nardelli about how I almost got a board to the lens.
If I can get her to laugh or crack a smile mission accomplished.
But I'd rather that, than actually getting skull cracked for being 2 close
Next time I wanna try to get some more photos of the whole KCDC crew.
Everyone there is rad! Support Emerica & KCDC kids..
Don't forget Sunday is Harold Hunter Day...See you all there

Leo Romero from The Emerica team on the KCDC ramp.
Full set of edits coming soon on meikmeik.com
Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC: Proper Recap
So hit it up, Emerica team riders rolled in to KCDC last night
They had a quick meet and greet and signed autographs.
Of course there was a little product toss time.
The kids got a little rowdy but it was all good.
Good times all around
Signing away

A quick game of rock, paper, scissors to see who goes first
Remember Respect the Ramp the Rules
Heavy Sesh
Westgate on the ramp
Leo keeping it slick
Danny Falla even dropped in on the ramp
And this happened before it all started
Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC: Doubles
Brandon and Leo from @emerica seconds before crashing on a doubles line
Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC: OH Leo
Leo Romero on the Ramp.
The kid is a pretty sick skater.
I almost got too close on one trick.
I think he tried to kickflip to 50-50 the padded wedge of the ramp.
Let's just say I got outta the way in time.
There was a girl who almost got broke off.
Careful when taking photos with your cell phones kids.
Funny stories and more photos tomorrow.
I'll explain my Garth moment with Amy, I probably blushed!
Till then buena noche!
Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC: BW
Bradon Westgate gate ripping the KCDC ramp.
This kid is the truth...
Pre-Cranberries & Coronas at KCDC
I forget if this was a make or a miss.
But the airs this guy was launching were insane.

Meik! goes to the Artisan Series Event at The Rivington Hotel and then buys goat cheese before Max Fishing
Wednesday Night was a crazy little adventure.
We put on our best Mr. Rogers Sweater and hit up NYC.
This outing had us going downtown to the Rivington Hotel.
Via NYskateboarding.com we heard of the Artisan Series Event.
Generous bevy, art, music, fun were all worth the small donation.
There's something about an event where you ride an elevator see the skyline.
We shot some photos, chatted up some folks and sipped on GIn & Tonic.
I met really nice lady with a buzz cut we'll call her Ms. S.
Because I'd butcher the spelling of her name.
She's in the gallery, see if you can spot her.
The night was young and the crew spilled out to Max Fish.
Busy week in the city.
Fun talking to Strobeck, Spencer, Mr. Volcom and O'Meally.
And everyone else I saw at the fish.
For some reason I thought kitchen was still open at Epstein's.
This was way way after 10pm
Mind you before I went in Max Fish I got a giant log of goat cheese.
Started munching on that before heading in.
Wrapped it up and then put it in my pocket.
So Dave at Epstein's gave me the you know the kitchen closed a long time ago look.
Quickly followed by the great advice of hit up meatball shop.
Minutes later I was back with insane meatball sub.
At some point this end and things wrapped up.
There was a time warp to Port and the night ended.
Crazy times and good adventures.

Chelsea Art Museum: ELEW Glows in the Dark by Meik!

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - LAST CHANCE DANCE, originally uploaded by thismeik.
Probably the coolest photo I've taken recently.
I kinda new what I was trying to do.
But my lens only went to f3.5 so I wasn't sure it would show.
Take that Matthew Broderick in Project X and War Games.
(Not quite sure why I reference those flicks but I just diddd)
It's like Stargate but real...

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - LAST CHANCE DANCE, originally uploaded by thismeik.
It's like stargate but real
And if you tried to jump through space and time you'd just hit a wall.
This was from far back during the awesome performance by ELEW.
It's always fun to take a couple different looks at the same thing.
Chelsea Art Museum: LAST CHANCE DANCE - No Drinks Please

This is what happens the rules get ignored
They're real nowwwwwwwwwww
More to come I swear.
Some dancing, some artists and some shenanigans.

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - Smile and cheer

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - LAST CHANCE DANCE, originally uploaded by thismeik.
One of my last photos of the night as my flash was dying.
These ladies so nice and I was glad to see them having fun.
The gentleman here is bringing the energy at 100%
We enjoy that very much so....
Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - Half Handstands

I didn't get it all but enough for it to count.
Half Handstands.
Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - Pictures or Paintings

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - LAST CHANCE DANCE, originally uploaded by thismeik.
This photo...scratch painting blew my mind
A great piece that I will spread the word on the artist soon.
It spooked me because I shot photos like this the night before.
I actually though my camera was broken looking the file.
Great detail
Some trippy art.
I know I have a flash reflection in it but it's trick cause the piece is video
I didn't fully understand but the lady was on the stairs sleeping.
Then she comes walking down the stairs with her suitcase.
It keeps going on a sick loop.
It liked looking at it.
This piece shape shifted the whole time
It could definitely suck you in
Stand back and keep your feet on the ground
And lastly just scream
If I did this it would get all the stress out of my system.
A ton of pieces that just blew me away or gave me great ideas...
More tomorrow: People, places, things and dancing....stay tuned.
Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - Video Graffiti

Chelsea Art Museum: Young Associates Fall Party - LAST CHANCE DANCE, originally uploaded by thismeik.
Back again.
This set focuses on a the video room.
Chris Polony introduced me to the guys behind a light presentation.
Part Multimedia vs roller brush graffiti.
It was a cool interactive piece to watch or get involved in.
Brush the wall
It's only light, or is it?
Great Stuff
They had a short of some of their work which was pretty amazing.
Beware of the fun
